Stackby now offers AI-powered columns to help you generate content, summarize, translate, analyze, and more—right within your tables. With this new feature, you can automate manual work and empower your teams to move faster using AI models like GPT-3.5 Turbo.

2. What is the AI Column in Stackby?

The AI column type allows you to generate content using AI directly inside your Stackby rows. Whether you’re summarizing a paragraph, writing a product description, or translating text, AI fields can automatically produce helpful results using a simple prompt and a supported AI model.

3. AI Field Overview

When you create a new AI column in Stackby, you’ll see options to:

• Choose an AI model: Select from available AI models (like GPT-3.5 Turbo, GPT 4o and more) to power your AI field.

• Use your own API key (from providers like OpenAI)

  

• Write a prompt to tell the AI what to do

• Reference other columns: Use other fields in your row as dynamic inputs. By referencing columns (e.g., [Product Name], [Description]), your AI responses are personalized per row instead of generic.

• Enable automatic generation: With Auto-generate turned on, the AI column refreshes automatically when referenced fields change or when a new row is added. This saves time by keeping outputs always up to date.

• Enable internet search: Turn on Internet Search if you want the AI to pull real-time information from the web.

• Add custom instructions for tone, structure, or behavior

  

4. Setting Up an AI Column

1. Create or edit a table in Stackby.

2. Add a new column → Choose column type → Select AI.

3. In the configuration panel:

   • Name the column

   • Choose the AI model (e.g., GPT-3.5 Turbo)

   • Add your API key (if not using the default)

   • Write a prompt like:
     "Summarize the content in [Column B] in 2 sentences"

   • Toggle Auto-generate or Internet Search as needed.

4. Click Save to apply.

5. Auto-Generate Content

When Auto-generate is enabled, the AI will regenerate the content:

• When the referenced fields are updated

• When a new row is created

  

When the AI column is cleared and re-run

6. Enable Internet Search

The "Enable internet search" option lets AI access real-time information from the web. This is useful for:

• Generating current news summaries

• Writing trend-based content
